Maundy Thursday

This year Great and Holy Thursday will have very meaningful selections of music. Chancel Choir will sing the best-known part of Lloyd Webber’s Requiem, the “Pie Jesu,” which combines the traditional Pie Jesu text with that of the Agnus Dei from later in the standard Requiem Mass. You will be able to enjoy a simple, achingly beautiful work for violin solo and piano, “Mercy,” written by German composer Max Richter. The quality of mercy is not strained. It’s a wonderful speech, all about forgiveness. Lessons will be supported by songs and prayers from the Taizé Community, such as “Bless the Lord, My Soul,” “Stay with Me,” “Nothing Can Trouble,” “Lamb of God,” and “Lord, Have Mercy,” performed by Chancel Choir, soloists, and Flute.

Orchestra Sunday
   April 16, at the 11:00 am service, a 27-member professional orchestra will accompany the choir and the congregation. Come and listen to your favorite hymns in arrangements of famous composers such as: “Bound for the Promised Land” and “How Firm a Foundation” by Mack Wilberg, “For the Beauty of the Earth” by John Rutter, “Anthems of Love” by Dan Forrest, and “This is My Father’s world” by Craig Courtney.

Viktor’s FIRST Doctoral Recital
On April 29 at 3:00 pm, at the First Presbyterian Church, which is located right next to the Trinity, Viktor will perform his FIRST Doctoral Recital. In total, he should play five recitals to complete his degree: Baroque, Romantic, Chamber, and two Lecture – Recitals. This time it will be Baroque Recital. The program includes music by the greatest composers of that time: V. Lubeck, D. Buxtehude, J. S. Bach, and Nicolas de Grigny. The music is highly virtuosic and very pleasant to listen to. Come and touch with your mind and soul to the best compositions of the Baroque Era.
