Music Ministry in May

Bluegrass Sunday
Each year in July, we have such a powerful and super uplifting Bluegrass Sunday. We are LOOKING FOR ALL MUSICIANS who can join the Bluegrass ensemble. If you can play guitar, banjo, mandolin, or upright bass; if you like singing some sentimental and uplifting songs; if you are willing to join this fantastic group, come and join us. The approximate date for Bluegrass Sunday is July 23 or 30.

For more details, please get in touch with Yuliia Billa (ybilla@tumct.org) or Karalee Poschman (kposchman@yahoo.com) the leader of the group.

Baroque Recital
Just for you, and just on May 5th at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary, there will be the sound of Baroque music.

Viktor Billa will play Bach’s phenomenal Passacaglia. Yuliia Billa will surprise you with Bach’s arias, where the voice is considered as one more instrument, but not a vocal solo. A special guest is cellist Evan A. Jones. He holds a Ph.D. in music theory and a D.M.A. in cello performance from the Eastman School of Music. Currently, he is a professor of music theory and coordinator of music theory and composition at FSU. As an active cellist, he appeared as a principal cellist at many professional orchestras. Currently, he serves as assistant principal cellist in the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra.

The program includes music selections by J.S. Bach and A. Vivaldi. The program’s highlight is “Bachianas Brasileiras no. 5” by Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos. It’s amazing music that will free your mind from daily troubles and help you have a great rest.

NEED RINGERS
We are in urgent need of two strong ringers for low bells in Jubilation Bells. You do not need to read the music. We will teach you. The repertoire is not difficult. It’s a great and very joyful group of musicians. Unofficially, they are called “Servants of the Bells.” We have lots of fun and a pleasant time making music together. Please get in touch with Viktor Billa (vbilla@tumct.org) if you are interested.
