Acolyte and Crucifer Ministry is Back!

Acolyte and Crucifer Ministry is Back!

By Rev. Dr. Matthew M. Williams, Senior Pastor

We are excited to announce that our Acolyte and Crucifer Ministry is back up and running, thanks to the leadership of Michael Plagens. Acolytes and Crucifers play a meaningful role in facilitating worship by bringing the light of Christ into the service and carrying the processional cross, symbolizing Christ’s presence among us. This tradition stretches back to ancient Christianity, where acolytes were tasked with assisting in the preparation of worship, and crucifers carried the cross to remind worshipers of Jesus’ sacrifice and victory.

Acolytes and Crucifers serve as visible reminders of scriptures such as John 8:12, where Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” The act of carrying the light and the cross is a special way to aid in the divine worship of God.

We are grateful to everyone who has chosen to serve in this important ministry and invite others of all ages to participate.

If you are interested in serving as an Acolyte or Crucifer, please contact Michael Plagens at plagensma@cdsmith.com.
